Meal times are a very important part of life at The Check House. Our restaurant style dining rooms have wonderful views over the sea and both rooms have recently been redecorated. They provide the perfect environment to enjoy a satisfying and nourishing meal in the company of others. Residents are also able to have meals in their rooms if they prefer.
Chris, our chef, offers a wide range of balanced, wholesome homemade dishes on our daily menu, prepared from only the best ingredients, using local produce wherever possible. We have recently introduced a breakfast table with choice of cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, juices, prunes and grapefruit as well as a full english breakfast, freshly cooked to order from the kitchen. At lunch time and supper we also have a sweet trolley so our residents may choose from our five different daily desserts or a cheese board.
Chris spends time with the residents discussing their preferences and special dietary requirements. Particular care is taken with residents suffering from any dietary problems and for those who have difficulty swallowing. Chris prepares liquidised food and presents the pureed food, piped onto a plate and shaped into quenelles. This enhances the presentation and allows those residents needing pureed diets to dine with dignity.
We also serve sherry before lunch and supper and wine with the meals if anyone would like it.
Afternoon tea is served each day with wonderful homemade cakes, and snacks and hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day and night. We also provide a choice of cold drinks to the bedrooms daily.
