Meal times are a very important part of life at Silverleigh. Our restaurant style dining room overlooks the garden and provides a perfect environment to enjoy a satisfying and nourishing meal in the company of others. Residents also are able to have meals in their own rooms if they prefer.
Paul, our chef, offers a wide range of balanced, wholesome, homemade dishes on our daily menu, prepared from only the best ingredients, using local produce wherever possible. There is an extensive choice at breakfast. Cereal, yoghurts, fresh fruit, juices, prunes and grapefruit as well as a full english breakfast, freshly cooked to order from the kitchen. At lunch time and supper we also have a sweet trolley so our residents may choose from our five different daily desserts or a cheese board. We also serve wine with lunch.
Paul spends time with the residents discussing their preferences and special dietary requirements. Particular care is taken with residents suffering from any dietary problems and for those who have difficulty in swallowing. Paul prepares liquidised food and presents the pureed food, both piped onto a plate and shaped in quenelles. This adhances the presentation and allows those residents needing pureed diets to dine with dignity.
Afternoon tea is served each day with a homemade cake of the day, and snacks and hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day and night. We also provide a choice of cold drinks to the bedrooms daily.
